The Rogers Park Flyers are one of Chicago's newest Track Clubs/Running Clubs in Chicago.  They are, however, combined veterans of over 15 Marathons (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago), numerous 5Ks, 8Ks, 10ks, 20 milers and "ultramarathons" (40 miles).  Our members range in age-group competitons, and have competed in Sprint Triathlons, Half-Ironman and Full-Ironman Competitons.  Most of us have finished in the top ten (10) age-group category in recent road races...

Rogers Park ranks among Chicago's most diverse and populous neighborhoods. Between the late 1830s and his death in 1856 Irishman Phillip Rogers purchased approximately 1,600 acres of government land, part of which formed the basis of Rogers Park. In 1872 Rogers's son-in-law, Irish immigrant Patrick Touhy, subdivided the land near the present-day intersection of Lunt and Ridge Avenues. By 1878 enough settlers had moved into the area to incorporate the village of Rogers Park. The number of residents increased steadily and further growth accompanied the village's annexation to Chicago in 1893. The 1915 annexation of the area north of

Howard Street, east
of the “L” tracks, and south of Calvary Cemetery, variously known as Germania and South Evanston, brought Rogers Park and Chicago a new northern boundary.  Today, Rogers Park is one of the most ethnically diverse neigborshoods in Chicago and possibly the most diverse Chicago neigborhood, not only in ethnicity, but social and political tolerence.  The Flyers race for what Rogers Park once was, and is, today: A great Chicago neighborhood.

To join the Rogers Park Flyers and be an active RP Flyer, you (1) must live, work or have lived in Rogers Park previously or (2) otherwise have some affiliation to RP and have the recommendation from 3 active members.  You must, of course, love to run and (3) register to compete in three USATF-sanctioned run/walk races (or 3 USAT triathlons or combination of them) during a calender year.  There is a nominal annual membership fee.
